GYNECOMESTIA

Gynecomastia is an annoying condition that occurs due to the increase of fat or connective tissue in the male breast. It is very common during adolescence. Although most of these cases improve, some do not. Some diseases and drugs can also cause gynecomastia. Discontinuation of these drugs may improve the disease. In adult men, excessive breast size disconnects the person from social life, prevents them from moving freely in society and creates an introverted individual. Beaches, pools, and gyms become places to stay away.

The current treatment method for gynecomastia; It is the reduction of fat and connective tissue, sometimes skin tissue, with surgery. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 1.5 hours. Many techniques have been developed for surgery. I mostly use the open tissue removal method with liposuction. Thus, it is possible to remove more tissue with less scars. Usually, there is no need to put a drain. A corset is worn immediately after the operation. The patient is discharged when he feels well. It is recommended to wear the corset for at least three weeks. Stitches are removed after ten days.

Gynecomastia is a common and treatable condition. Family support is especially important in order to get rid of this situation that stresses young men as soon as possible.
